Master Planning Concept

Here are two of the conceptual master plans of the design. In particular I wanted to maintain that linear form along the Railway to articulate to outsiders and passersby, not only pedestrians by vehicle traffic, the functions of the building. It clearly needs to project itself as a community centre for transit and idea exchange.

In terms of Presence, I particularly want to create a rhythm on the facade, not in the sense of a pattern, but the form of the actual building. This i think is important in differentiating the building from the surroundings, especially when veiwed from the Hume FWY - the monotonous drive down the highway needs to be broken up and segregated into two parts - before the bulding and after the building. I want it to be memorable.
That means creating a visual striking element that is memorable and engaging.
